Charley Crockett surprised us today with a brand new song, “$10 Cowboy”, the title track to his new album coming out April 26th. This is the second song from Charley this year. The first was his duet with Willie Nelson on New Year’s Day. $10 Cowboy will be Charley’s first album with new material since 2022’s The Man From Waco.
“This material is written at truck stops, it’s written at casinos, it’s written in the alleys behind the venues, it’s written in my truck parked up on South Congress in Austin,” says Crockett. “A ramblin’ man like me, a genuine transient, is in a pretty damn good position to have something to say about America.”
“A $10 Cowboy is a country singer who made himself on a street corner in America,” Crockett says. “But the cowboy way, the cowboy mindset, that applies to anyone who doesn’t feel free, who feels fenced in and bound to something.”
